What it takes to be a Super Successful Fashion Designer?

Imagine you’re a renowned Fashion Designer, just like Sabyasachi, JJ Valaya, or Manish Malhotra. Your label outfit is a prized possession for a shopper. Bollywood and even Hollywood celebrities vie for your designer creations. Your runway shows are success-prone. Fame and money are synonymic to your name and brand. Sounds like a dream?

No, it isn’t! Turn it into a beautiful reality by honing the below-mentioned skills and techniques. But first earn a degree or diploma of fashion designing, because it’s a prerequisite for all. Plus, it’ll be easier for you to get a placement or start your label. Now wondering what else makes a super-successful fashion designer? Scroll down to know the science behind it:

Creativity

A fashion designer has to think out of the box. You have to be in the habit of coming up with something creative and classy all the time (or say most of the time). Creative thinking sets the designers apart. They have to push the envelope every time an idea is conceptualized. The unique cuts, patterns, and styles give way to a unique collection.

The sense of colours, textures, and styles

Designing requires a keen sense of colours, textures, and styles. It’s essential for you to understand which colours blend well. You need to know what kinds of fabric will good on different silhouettes. Whether cotton works well for an ensemble or silk is an ideal choice. They must know what sort of embellishment or embroideries look fascinating on a garment.

Sketching or Drawing Skills

God is in the details. To envision these details, you have to draw or sketch the outfit you’re conceptualizing. It’s this artistic skill that gives birth to your idea on paper. It helps in clarity for a designer and other stakeholders.  Strong drawing skills are essential for a fashion designer. Whether it’s lehengas, gowns, or anything, so whatever a designer is envisioning he has to draw then get it constructed.

Unconditional Love for Fashion

Do you drool when you see the latest collection launching on fashion runways? You have a penchant for neon and sparkles. Or nothing fashionable is bizarre for you. Sounds “So You”? Great! One day, you’ll be revered as one excellent fashion designer in the industry.

Solid Visualization Skills

An ingenious designer must have powerful visualization skills: the better your visualization skills, the better clarity for your production team and clients.

Moreover, this time the collaboration of Mochino and H&M has made this year full of pop and creativity. The news about their collaboration came in April 2018 stating that they will be releasing their first collection together soon. This created an excitement factor among Indians who are very fond of products from Italian Fashion Luxury.

The Creative Director of Mschino ‘Jeremy Scott’ relates the entire collection with fun, pop, creativity and mood of the party by keeping in mind his family and friends to show positivity, love, and diversity.

LIFE OF AN ENTREPRENEUR

An entrepreneur running a successful business requires a lot of work everyday. Some days entrepreneur might feel like he/she won’t see the fruits of the labor they are putting in, but how is he/she an entrepreneur if he is not a motivator. We read such lines everyday somewhere to get ourselves pumped up but the question is how many of us really remember it in our daily tasks!

life-of-an-entrepreneue

1. Walt Disney: “All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them.”
You have to have the courage to follow your dreams because there will always be obstacles you have to face before you reach your dream.

2. 37 Signals: “Instead of freaking out about these constraints, embrace them. Let them guide you. Constraints drive innovation and force focus. Instead of trying to remove them, use them to your advantage.”

These people in our lives can be our well wishers, advisors, friends or role models but why is there no ‘myself’ in this? We must remind ourselves everyday that it is only us who are there behind the scenes of every trouble or success and they are the ropes of those people which helps us stand and remain stand in front of every charge. Being a women in India, waking up every morning yet working sounds common these days but the struggle is still there on the high command as an entrepreneur.

‘You think, you wish, you try, you face, you fall, again fall, you stand and then you win!’

Sounds very familiar for those who came forward after winning over it. Every person is rolling on this cycle of work and Kanika Tekriwal as well! The founder of ‘Jet Set Go’  – India’s first online marketplace for private jets and helicopters launched in 2014, by carrying her more than eight years of experience in the aviation industry, she realised the frustration of customers while dealing with charter brokers and operator due to the fact that because of sheer lack of transparency and non-availability of charter planes, customers pay astronomical amounts. It was from here, that the idea to develop JetSetGo started.

JetSetGo is fundamentally re-defining the private aviation business, by creating marketplaces that join the dots between charter customers and operators on one hand and service providers with operators on the other. For Kanika who has beaten cancer and is now entering unchartered territory, the flight to greater heights has just begun.

We have this story and many other stories like this in this world present which are redefining themselves everyday in front of people but it is about you that how you take stories like this among many of them to create yours. If there is a plan to start and to move forward you have to get ready for sleepless nights, to travel, to get your blood pressure stable and of course get crazy for you goal. It is all about you that how are you going to plan everything and even your nights to sleep. Its is necessary to get crazy and to think out of the box, necessary to start working and to plan every stop of yours to go up.

Kanika once said in an interview that you must choose people who are there to learn not to earn. Yes, we all have to remember such things not to be great just to meet great moments. To become a successful entrepreneur you have to have:
Ideas
Plans
Communication skills
Convincing power
Self motivated ability
Positive mind
Backups
and last but not least you always have to remind that ‘Who you are and what you can do the best that no one can? With these no problems will get vanish but surely they will always come with a ready solution to them.

Get a complete understanding of the market you’re planning to focus on. Whenever you’re creating something for her, make a buyers persona and stick to it. JOY OF GIVING

October’s second week was appeared a lot special as International College of Fashion celebrated ‘JOY OF GIVING WEEK’. All the students teamed up and went to the different organizations and orphanages to celebrate this moment with a lot of essential stuff. They organized Art Competition and other few activities to make this event even more interesting. All the students donated stationary items, their clothes, funds and obviously the sweets for the kids. We even noticed that how much enthusiastic our kids are and have the urge to learn more.

The people handling those organizations deserve a salute from us for creating an energetic youth for the country. These organizations and day led us see the reality of life. Seeing them enthusiastic, our students became excited too and they loved to support and help them. The Joy of giving Week made us realize that we do not require any special occasion to help anyone or bring smile on anyone’s face. We can do it wherever and whenever we realize it.

Sarojini Fashion from Sarojini Nagar

On 3rd October, 2018, We the students of BBA(F.E.) first semester visited the Sarojini nagar market to do a market survey. We all reached the place around 11 in the morning, which is usually the time when the market opens. We all collected as a group in front of a store called Big C, which is a popular showroom of clothes in the area. Then to effectively work as a team, we all divided ourselves into smaller groups and began searching through what the market had to offer.

The Sarojini nagar market is a fairly huge market to cover as a whole in one day, with shops offering the latest off-run branded clothes. These are clothes which are rejected from high rise showrooms like Zara, Versace, Tommy Hilfiger, Mango, United colors of Benetton, etc. just due to a minute production defect which cannot be sold at the prices and clothing standards such brands offer. Such clothes then trickle down to markets like Sarojini, where they are sold for a lot lower prices but are totally wearable.

Apart from a large number of large sized showrooms for various international and local brands, the crux of the market is formed by street side shops which sell accessories such as footwear, belts, jewellery and garments of all sizes, designs, and colors. In fact, the most famous Export Bazaar/Market for clothes is located in the backstreets of the Sarojini Nagar market. It is surrounded by 3 markets –Subzi Market, Central Market and Mandir wali side. This place is a hub for the trendsetters of colleges, from students with a tight budget, to bored housewives, tourists from other Indian states and even from abroad– they all converge here.

When it comes to shopping in budget, Sarojini Nagar undoubtedly stands to be the perfect destination! It is one of the Delhi’s famous and imperative markets and off course, a fashion destination for every girl who hunts for trendy clothes at killer prices. Right from designer bag to fashionable clothes, Sarojini Nagar never disappoints. And yes, what’s the madness behind shopping without the healthy dose of bargaining? There is no other place that can be as cheap as Sarojini Nagar.

Moreover, the concept of bargaining can be very well experienced at this place. Have you ever thought of purchasing a Mango or Zara apparel at 1/4th of its original prices? If not, then I have to suggest you to visit Sarojini Nagar. Furthermore, it will always stun you with the latest fashion trends, may it be in terms of cuts, style or color – Sarojini Nagar will turn out to be a mindboggling destination. It is always a win-win situation for you and if you’re looking for accessories, belts, clothes, shoes, sling and many more things just at the cost of your pocket money!

WHAT’S NEW IN JANPATH…

We all know that we live in world which changes around us every second and in fashion, every micro second. Our way to explore is not only caged up with the internet, we like to roam around. And that what we we did in Janpath, in all the shops till our feet got pain and box of mind got full of ideas. We moved to the handloom house there and saw the kanthas, phulkaris and many more works with their history and process.

The people told us about the region it belongs to, their work, and the role of our textile ministry in it. When we ever move to the street markets like these, we never feel the help of our internet to know trends. We saw a lot of accessories and handloom with vibrant colors blooming this year in the market.

Janpath itself taught a lot about the mix and match and tricks of the communication that sellers use. Following the trend from last year, this time as well we could see  a lot of mustards, turquoise, blues, neutrals and pastels appearing in the markets. Basket weaves, tucks and pleats in a-lines, straights with the ruffled and bishop sleeves mostly will make this year colorful and elegant and that’s what Janpath market’ told us that day.
